⚒️ Preparation and Set Up
- Always set up the tent on raised ground, away from trees with heavy snow or open fire sources.
- Plan to finish set up before nightfall.
- To keep the base clean, use a protective groundsheet.
- In high winds, reinforce with extra stakes and guy ropes.
- Use the supplied rainfly against rain, snow, or sun. An awning can be created with additional poles (sold separately), but it will only cover part of the tent.
🌡️ Operating Temperature
- Operating temperature - from -10 °C to +40 °C (14 °F to 104 °F).
Cold-weather use condition - After use below 0 °C (32 °F), dry the tent completely in a warm, dry indoor space before storage. - PVC hardens in sub-zero temperatures — the floor and beams become stiff, making folding more difficult. This is normal.
- Choose sleeping bags with the correct temperature rating and add insulating pads for comfort.
🔥 Heating & Insulation
- A roof outlet is provided for a wood stove. Only use stoves with spark arrestors. Safe electric heaters are permitted. Never use open flames.
- Ventilate properly to avoid carbon monoxide accumulation.
- If fitted, use the partition to concentrate heat in the sleeping zone.
- Keep TPU windows closed for warmth, opening them briefly to ventilate.
- Improve insulation by covering the floor with carpets, blankets, or mats.
💨 Air Pressure & Frame
- Air pressure drops in freezing weather — check and inflate regularly.
- Confirm that all valves are closed securely.
💧 Condensation and Humidity
Condensation is natural, similar to window fog. The higher the waterproof rating, the more it appears.
Our Terylene cotton fabric greatly reduces condensation:
– Keep vents partly open.
– Raise indoor temperature slowly.
– Place a groundsheet under the tent.
– Select sites with lower humidity.
– Dry the tent fully before packing it away.
🌧 Protection Against Rain & Snow
- The tent resists moderate rainfall for 4–5 hours. In light or occasional showers, the rainfly is not required.
- For long-lasting rain, always install the supplied rainfly.
- After precipitation, remove the rainfly for better airflow and to avoid condensation.
- Pre-fix or roll the rainfly on one side for fast set up when rain persists.
- During snowfall, install the rainfly immediately. Snow buildup on fabric increases the risk of moisture.
- Clear accumulated snow from the roof often.
- If zippers freeze, thaw gently with your hands or water — do not force.
- After winter use, ensure the tent is dried completely before storage.
📦 Folding & Storage
- Cold makes PVC and fabric stiff, so folding is more difficult.
- Deflate the tent fully before packing.
- Dry thoroughly in a ventilated space and store only when dry.
🧹 Care and Maintenance
- Avoid wearing boots inside.
- Keep sharp objects away from walls and flooring.
- Keep the tent away from chemicals or flammable substances.
- Mold and continuous UV exposure shorten lifespan — keep the tent clean and protected.
- Reduce direct sunlight exposure; use the rainfly if required.
⚠️ Fire Safety Precautions
- Handle electrical devices with care.
- Keep the entrance clear for emergency exits.
- Have a fire extinguisher or other fire-suppression tool nearby.
- Keep fireworks and similar items away from children around the tent.

I knew when I ordered 17.2 I was basically getting a camping castle, especially for a solo camper but this summer I want ro spend more time outdoors, so it needs to be like home- work space, cooking space, living space & sleep space all in one equals Coody Familia 17.2. We absolutely love our Coody Tent! From the moment we set it up—effortlessly, I might add—we were blown away by how beautiful and thoughtfully designed it is inside. We experienced both snow and strong winds, yet the tent remained solid and cozy; we didn’t feel a thing. With 28 people joining us for Thanksgiving and a very small house, this tent was a lifesaver. It comfortably slept eight adults on eight cots, and the wood-burning stove kept everyone warm and perfectly comfortable all night long. Our guests raved about their sleeping quarters! If you’re looking for extra space, a guest overflow option, or the ultimate camping setup, this is the tent to buy. Solves my Thanksgiving guest load problem We downsized after our children left the nest, but Thanksgiving is our annual hosting event and getting everybody their space has proved an increasing challenge. This year I decided to add a temporary suite - the Koala 7. It is up on our patio, glamped out with Persian rugs and a stored queen-sized bed with headboard, sofa, recliner, cot, electric space heaters, nightstands, table lamps, etc (pics from set up phase). My wife and I test slept in it last night...good to go! Everybody who has seen it so far has been very impressed with the tent.

Great tent So far so good unfortunately in Florida it gets hot. It was 94 outside. Who knows what it was in the tent over 100 probably got a box fan but had to call it quits as I lost 10 pounds in two days.

Great This is my 2nd tent from rbm the first was Koala 5. Took it deer and elk hunting this last year and it was the perfect hunting tent will be doing the Coody 17.2 this year with the bigger size I hope it will be as great of an experience. As far as the tent size and the way the tent is set up it is absolutely perfect. I love the doors and length of the new tent. Will let you know how it does this winter during elk camp.

This tent is phenomenal! With an electric pump, its up in 10 minutes. Amazing quality, stitching, and the air chambers are VERY tough and durable. For me It is worth it. This is the best tent I have owned, and I've had nearly 20 tents in my lifetime.

AMAZING tent and company We inflated it for a test run at home. Had it up four weeks without air loss! It rained and wind blew! The tent stayed dry and secure. Our tent bag was torn and stove bag missing though. Olga from customer service handled it with professionalism and grace! We received the replacements today! Things can happen with any product, but how the company handles it is what matters. I have recommended the tent and company to others and my family, and they will probably be getting their tent next summer! Good job RBM!

Excellent tent. Set up in the yard just to check it out. It went up super easy but it is heavy so you.ll need help. Great quality although in videos I ve seen it shows the rbm logo on the out side mine doesn t have that and it has a lot of Chinese writing on all of the tags. I was expecting something made in America I guess. Also the pump doesn t have a deflate function and getting the air out and it folded back correctly to fit in the bag was a nightmare.. we managed after getting an air mattress pump to help deflate. Overall 8 out of 10 only because of the pump and it s made in china..
